Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck usually goes by other names including: Walkie or Walkie-Rider. These pieces of machinery are essentially a motorized type of a pallet jack. They are available in both "Walkie" models as well as "Rider" versions.
The walkie model as the name implies, is made to allow the operator to walk alongside the machinery as they lift and transport loads. The operator stands on a small platform on the Rider model. The rider models are great for frequent transporting of loads over extended distances within manufacturing operations and warehouses. They are really maneuverable and fast.
It is important to remember that there is no safety cage on this model and therefore, it is not recommended to move unstable or tall loads with these equipment. A rider could be the perfect answer if you are looking for a cheap way of transporting cargo from one place to another. If though, you should transport heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit instead of a pallet jack, the walkie model might be the right alternative.
Order Selector
An Order Selector also goes by the name of Order picker. This machine is particularly made for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks attached to a platform in the Man-up design. This particular platform elevates both the load and the operator with a purpose to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Normally, the order selector is a very narrow aisle vehicle which can operate in smaller aisles. They are very useful pieces of machinery during physical inventories as well as during cycle counting situations. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models that range in the 20 to 30 foot range are a lot more popular.
