Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage places orderly and to store supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck can be used. The reach truck comes in quite a few kinds: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The most basic kind is the stand-up. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This model has telescopic forks designed to put the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet has to go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not only slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This particular version is ideal in situations where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Normally more than one kind of reach truck is required inside warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies use different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to use and can make the most of available storage space while increasing production.
