How to Charge a Scissor Lift
Lots of people value the convenience of utilizing a scissor lift. The convenience of working and the security offered from the lift's basket offer much more piece of mind than attempting to perform a similar task working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular machine make it the right option for carrying tasks from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are operated by batteries that are internally mounted inside the lift's base. These batteries need to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is an easy task to charge the batteries. This could be done without any particular tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.
So as to prepare the scissor lift for charging, park the machine next to an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated area. After that, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button located inside the lift basket, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Often, older units will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
After that, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in a place which is well ventilated and next plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger can potentially occur.
