Kinds of Construction Lifts or Boom Lifts
A boom lift is a piece of machine that allows personnel to perform jobs without having to build a scaffolding. They are used to do maintenance work, to work on elevated structures and are common machines found in factory and warehouse environment also.
Usually, construction lifts offer powered and wheeled bases which are capable of driving to the work place and have a platform on them that is responsible for lifting workers. There are many different types of lifts and each and every one is suitable to various kinds of tasks and environment.
Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks, which are often referred to as "cherry-pickers", carry a long boom which has a bucket connected at the end. This bucket area is where an employee could stand. Commonly, bucket trucks are utilized by landscapers and by utility workers. Landscapers often utilize these equipment to trim trees.
Each and every bucket truck has a boom assembly mounted to a standard truck, which allows these vehicles to move swiftly on normal roads. In addition, this increases the area that this machinery could service efficiently. This is particularly important for power companies. For example, many of these companies utilize cherry pickers to raise workers up so they can work on and reach transmission lines. The buckets need to be frequently checked and properly insulated since they are working close to possible shock hazards.
Articulated boom lifts are also known as "knuckle lifts", and consist of a work platform that is mounted on an arm that could bend so as to reach around obstacles. The base of the lift contains a turntable and can turn the lift in a full circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels also for extra mobility.
Articulated boom lifts are utilized for landscaping projects and are useful for maintenance work on already-finished projects that do not require easy access to the area directly beneath the jobsite. These lifts could be used to repair piping or exterior electrical work, and hard to clean areas. Normally knuckle lifts are driven by the employee in the platform with the extended boom.
