Inventor Jerome Case founded the company of CASE in Racine, when he started the building of threshing machinery. Later the company gained recognition globally as the first builder of steam engines for its agricultural application. In time, the business grew to become the world's largest maker of steam engines.

Case grew their construction equipment business through various acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation in the year 1957. In 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This company became responsible for advertising several of the globe's leading brands of construction and agricultural machinery.
