The Carriage
Similar to conventional forklifts, the lifting attachment can be tilted from its horizontal position to forwards and backwards. The actual amount of tilt possible completely exceeds that of vertical mast lift trucks. There are various types of lifting attachments available, and this ability to position makes them as effective as possible.
The majority of telehandlers are capable of tilting forward to a point where the carriage is actually parallel with the ground believe it or not! Furthermore, numerous models provide rotating carriages too. This enables the operator to radially adjust the lifting attachment. This translates to the load being capable of being tilted forwards and backwards, as well as side to side.
Load Capacity
Knowing a telehandler's load capacity is a much different exercise than it is on a vertical mast model. The capacity of the model is completely dependent on such things as: the amount of boom transaction deployed, if this is applicable and boom angle and extension, whether the unit is lifting on outriggers or on rubber tires. Also, which lifting attachment plays an important role, as does the wind, the grade the equipment is operating on et cetera. All of these specifics could be changing regularly and this gives the operator a lot more information to take into consideration.
Telehandlers will often have some different load charts available to them, giving them a good reference they could utilize to know a particular lift's load capacity. Depending on the model in particular and the configuration of the boom, the load capacity can vary by thousands of pounds all together.
