Forklift Accidents
Forklift mishaps are usually due to the careless use of the forklift. This takes place when the operator of the forklift is not trained properly in safety procedures. Anyone operating a forklift should use caution in order to reduce the possibility of mishaps and to be able to avoid possible dangers.

Forklift Accident Statistics:
OSHA, which is responsible for checking workplace safety, reports on the frequency of forklift accidents. On average, every three days someone is killed in a forklift accident in the US. Around 95,000 injuries happen in forklift related mishaps every year. The vast majority of these accidents could have been avoided if correct safety procedures had been followed. There are even internet sites committed to reporting stories of forklift accidents.

When there are accidents related to forklifts, both the individual and the business would suffer. There are numerous reasons why employers should take steps to minimize the risk. Among the biggest reasons is to prevent possibility of lawsuits if someone is injured. Second, accidents cut down on working time. Third, property and merchandise can be damaged during accidents. Nearly all mishaps are attributed to workers who are not trained. Employers are responsible for making sure that workers who are utilizing the forklift are correctly trained in safety and risks. Never let anybody on a forklift who isn't correctly trained to utilize the forklift. Your business should develop and post in a visible location all forklift safety measures.

Rather than going through training because staff are required to, they must have a positive attitude in doing so. You as the employer should help workers know the importance of proper training. Let them realize that they could kill or injure not just themselves, but other individuals, if they make mistakes. It is up to you to ensure that your workers go through training seriously.
