When there are accidents related to forklifts, both the individual and the business would suffer. There are numerous reasons why employers should take steps to minimize the risk. Among the biggest reasons is to prevent possibility of lawsuits if someone is injured. Second, accidents cut down on working time. Third, property and merchandise can be damaged during accidents. Nearly all mishaps are attributed to workers who are not trained. Employers are responsible for making sure that workers who are utilizing the forklift are correctly trained in safety and risks. Never let anybody on a forklift who isn't correctly trained to utilize the forklift. Your business should develop and post in a visible location all forklift safety measures.
Rather than going through training because staff are required to, they must have a positive attitude in doing so. You as the employer should help workers know the importance of proper training. Let them realize that they could kill or injure not just themselves, but other individuals, if they make mistakes. It is up to you to ensure that your workers go through training seriously.
