Forklift Tire Specs
Forklifts have been an essential device in commercial businesses and industry ever since 1917. During its history the forklift has evolved through various kinds, from a basic tractor with a platform attachment to a specialized high-tech equipment. Forklift tires have also changed into particular tires, with various kinds designed to suit particular functions.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is constructed of solid polyurethane or rubber and is suitable for indoor applications on smooth surfaces. The tread of a cushion tire is bonded or pressed onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated for different load capacities and for ease of steering. Cushion tires are commonly utilized in warehouse settings.
Pneumatic Tires
Foam or air is used to fill pneumatic forklift tires. They are offered in two kinds: bias or radial. Depending on the use, they come with different sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Foam-filled pneumatic forklift tires maintain constant pressures and are less prone to punctures. Pneumatic tires are usually used outdoors on uneven, rough surfaces.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
The comfortable ride which pneumatic tires provide along with the puncture resistance that solid tires provide are the combined features of Solid Pneumatic Hybrid Tires. They are an alternative to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Utilized on wheel loader forklifts are big rubber tires which can either be pneumatic, solid or foam. These types of tires are best for loading and transporting bulk objects into processing machines or onto trucks. Large flotation pneumatic tires are best for masted rough terrain forklifts commonly used at construction locations, auto recyclers and lumberyards.
